About the CCPP model

The Learning We Design

The Cross-cultural Communication Program with Project-Based Learning (CCPP) is a unique international exchange education model developed and researched by the University of Tsukuba, one of the top universities of Japan founded in 1872. It is structured around three core pillars, 1: Entrepreneurship Education, 2: Intercultural Communication, 3: Cultural Experience & People-to-People Exchange (including tourism and local engagement).
This program aims to address social issues, create social impact, and generate new value through international exchange. More than just an intercultural experience, it empowers participants to take an active role in international exchange, developing cross-cultural adaptability through collaborative work, discussions, and cultural experiences.
The global talent we seek to cultivate through this program are individuals who deeply understand both Japanese and global cultures and can successfully navigate diverse cultural contexts. By fostering interactions among people from different backgrounds, the program enhances intercultural understanding, critical thinking, and adaptability. Ultimately, this initiative aims to develop globally-minded individuals who can contribute not only to Japan but also to the wider global society by embracing new perspectives and diverse ways of thinking.

Specific Methods and Strengths

This program is conducted in an intensive training format, either in Japan or in the partner country, where outstanding students selected from across Japan collaborate with students from the partner country in international joint exercises.
Based on the CCPP model, the program follows a tutorial-based educational approach and includes diverse fieldwork opportunities. Participants will gain first-hand experience at the forefront of international diplomacy and cultural exchange, particularly through collaborations with Japanese government agencies. This exposure will provide you with an invaluable opportunity to deepen your understanding of global affairs.
A key component of the program is teamwork, where students work together to identify and address common challenges between Japan and Korea from an SDGs perspective. They will develop ideas and present their solutions, with the best ideas having the potential to be implemented as social businesses with support from the University of Tsukuba.
Through this collaborative international learning experience, students embark on an exploration to find answers to their own questions, working towards solving social issues, creating social impact, and generating new value. This program is designed to empower students to turn their insights into real-world solutions and contribute meaningfully to society.
